SMB is a Proud Partner with the Center for Great Apes
The Center for Great Apes’ mission is to provide a permanent sanctuary for orangutans and chimpanzees who have been rescued or retired from the entertainment industry, from research, from the exotic pet trade, or from other situations where great apes need rescue and lifetime care. The Center will provide care with dignity in a safe, healthy, and enriching environment for all sanctuary residents.

Meet Angel
Angel prefers to sleep outside at night, so she usually makes nests with her blankets in the aerial trails. On the nights that it storms or is very cold, she gathers up her bedding and carries it into her nighthouse bedroom.
Her occasional penchant for playing with “girly” things—including hats, scarves, bandanas, bracelets, and barrettes—seems to be a remnant of her days in the Hollywood entertainment business.
